1. What is per diem?

Per diem is a method of reimbursement for travel expenses that allows a set dollar amount per day -- no matter how much is actually spent. The rate is determined by the government and varies by city. See #3 below for links to per diem rate websites. 

The Computing Community Consortium (CCC) has devoted a website is intended to help undergraduates in computing fields find summer research opportunities and resources for applying to graduate school. 

Roommates, Shared housing, Rental resources

EECS doesn't have a roommate matching service for our incoming students, but we can point you to some resources to assist you in finding a roommate for off-campus living.

An interdisciplinary organization of graduate students across Northwestern University who are interested in building tools for learning.  We focus on three areas: community building, technology building, and community outreach.

The EECS department provides travel grants in the amount of $300.00 (USD) per calendar year to help defray some of the expenses of participation in academic conferences related to the field of study.  

The EECS grant is given in addition to the $500.00 grant a student may apply for and receive from TGS - The Graduate School. (Read more about the TGS grant)
