The Student Affairs Office will review your course load to make sure you have completed the necessary courses and obtain all department signatures on your behalf. Please note that the form is subject to approval and based on the discretion of the Director of Graduate Studies. Completion of the MS program requires 12 credits to be taken. If you have not completed the majority of these courses you may not apply for “Reduced Course Load.” This is reserved for students who are in the their FINAL quarter and have already completed 10 or 11 courses.

Reduced Course Load based on Academic Difficulties is possible if your department is willing to endorse the recommendation. You should know, however, that this is only available to you ONCE in your academic career and, should we authorize the Reduced Course Load, you and your department will need to be confident that you will be able to successfully complete the remainder of your program in a timely manner. Note: It is quite unusual to receive this request, close to the end of an academic term.

If you have any questions about the process outlined on our website, or would like to discuss your situation further, please contact Carolyn Mortezai for more info. You will need to turn in your Reduced Course Load Form during Walkin Hours (Monday-Thursday, 10am-1pm and 2-4pm) to the Graduate Student Affairs Office in Tech Room L351, where you can ask any further questions, if needed and speak to an Advisor.
